Golfing for SOWF

With a playing field headed by former U.S. Special Operations Command commander retired U.S. Army General Doug Brown, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation golf tournament was a big success!

Held on October 25th at the exclusive Fox Hollow resort in New Port Richey, Florida with as old out field the foursome of Tim Bagniefski, Jack Picker, Mike Swingley and Ben Picker of General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical systems took home first place for the low gross score of 57 in the scramble format event.

Prizes also were awarded for closest to the pin on par 3 holes, but the most unique prize was the miniature Mercedes-Benz pedal-powered car awarded to Jack Schofield for his closest to the line drive on the challenging 18th hole.

Generous contributions from a number of sponsors helped make the post tournament banquet a big success with raffle drawings highlighted by a number of golf club giveaways, a free outing for four at the exclusive TPC of Tampa Bay course and a backyard Barbeque for 25 compliments of Sonny's.

Our first Special Operations Warrior Foundation Charity Golf Tournament would not have been possible without the help of a great group of volunteers from Infinity Business Systems. Special thanks are also due to Fox Hollow's Group Outings Coordinator Brian Cummings for his tireless work to make the golf and food service a first rate experience.

Photographer Fred Vollrath volunteered his services as well and you can see his work and download individual pictures for a small charge by clicking here.

When the fun was done, the tournament raised some $50,000 for SOWF's efforts to provide college educations for the children of Special Operators who fall in combat or training operations as well as financial support for the families of wounded warriors.

Planning is already underway to make next year's event even bigger and better. We hope to see you there!
